Alexander Kvatashidze's documentary SEE YOU IN CHECHNYA has won HBO Europe Award! This Award is granted at coproduction forum When East Meets West. The film has picked up several other co-production prizes including the Open Doors Production and the ARTE Open Doors awards at the 2013 Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland. SEE YOU IN CHECHNYA is currently in post production.

We are proud to announce that our feature documentary FAREWELL, HERR SCHWARZ is going to celebrate its German festival premiere at DOK Leipzig (in German competition). It will be screened 31st of October at 19:30 at Schaubühne Lindenfels. Other screenings are scheduled for 1st of November at 16:15 at CineStar3 and 2nd of November at CineStar 6. Additionally, the film will be screened at Film Festival Cottbus, only a few days later: 6th of November at 19.00 at Kammerbühne and 7th of November at 20.00 at Obenkino.

I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK - THE TEA PARTY

We are very much looking forward to the TV premiere of the 58-minute German version of I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK. ARTE is going to broadcast the documentary on Tuesday, 30 October at 10.05 pm. Additional broadcasts are scheduled for Monday, 5 November at 11.30 pm on SWR and for the day of the US presidential election on Tuesday, 6 November at 11.00 am on ARTE.

Our documentary I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK by Astrid Schult is going to premiere at the 46th Hof International Film Festival on Wednesday, 24 October at 4,45 pm at the Central Theater. Additional screenings are scheduled for Saturday, 27 October at 8.00 pm at the Central Theater and for Sunday, 28 October at 5.00 pm at the City. In November, the film will also be screened in Kassel at the Kassel Dokfest (14 Nobember 2012 at 3.00 pm at the Filmladen). We would like to thank the entire team and all our supporters!

TALES OF THE DEFEATED

DECEMBER 2010

The documentary by Israeli director Yael Reuveny is currently raking in awards. At the DokumentART, the film won first prize, awarded by the marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, and another two prizes at the international film festival in Cottbus: the Discovery Award and the DEFA-Förderpreis, which is awarded in the context of the Berlinale. In addition, the film was commended at the Doc en Courts festival in Lyon.

The short by Corinna Liedke from the anthology film ZECHE IS NICH is proving hugely successful. The film was commended at the Kassel Dokfest and won first prize at the Flensburg short film festival in the category feature film. The film will soon also be screened at the exground festival in Wiesbaden and at the short film festival unlimited #4 in Cologne.

The documentary by Undine Siepker (episode from ZECHE IS NICH) is about the cultural mixing of our society on 50 m2 of green space. It won best documentary at the Flensburg short film festival. The film will soon also be screened at the film festival Lünen.

Melanie Andernach is already very much looking forward to being a member of the jury in the category "NRW films" at this year's short film festival unlimited #4 in Cologne. The festival will open on 23 November 2010 and run till 28 November 2010.

This month, it will be screened at the Mediterranean Film Festival in Bosnia-Herzegovina and at the Cortopotere Short Film Festival in Bergamo, Italy. In November, the film willl be screened at another three festivals: the International Film Festival Cottbus (6 November 2010, 10.00 am), the Uk Jewish Film Festival in London (10 November 2010, 7.00 pm) and the Doc en Courts in Lyon (26 November 2010, 5.00 pm).

ZECHE IS NICH - SEVEN GLIMPSES TO THE RUHR REEGION is part of the offical start to the celebrations in and for the European Capital of Culture RUHR 2010. The film will premiere at the opening to the two-day culture festival "Glück Auf!" on Saturday, 9th of January 2010 at 6.00 pm, Halle 2, on the premises of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollvererein in Essen. The directors are going to be present, and the film will be screened again during two subsequent events that evening. On Sunday, 10 January 2010, additional screenings will follow in the salt store and at the coking plant of the Zollverein.

KADO (written and directed by Melanie Andernach and Andreas Köhler) is going to premiere on 21 September in Cologne and will then go on festival tour. The film is an episode from the WDR production Code 21.

Filming for our first feature film DIE DINGE ZWISCHEN UNS (written and directed by Iris Janssen, co-produced by the Academy of Media Arts Cologne) ended in July. The project was funded by the Filmstiftung NRW. Now, we are looking forward to post-production!

WHERE I COME FROM

The team of the film WOHER ICH KOMME, based on the eponymous novel by Alexa Hennig von Lange, has successfully taken part in EKRAN, the European training programme for film professionals. In addition to receiving excellent consultation on the script, director Marcel Ahrenholz and his DoP Andreas Köhler got the chance to try out several scenes.
